Typical use of proximity detection in a mobile phone
– uses the battery only when needed.
Our Z-Sense Ultra Low Power Proximity (ULPP) technology is the world’s first sensor system especially designed for mobile proximity sensing. ULPP is an electric field sensing technology which enables ultra low power proximity detection of human presence – ideal for wake-up and control of mobile devices.
This ULPP solution from IDENT Technology has already been successfully integrated into computer mice, remote controls, hearing aids, headsets, mobile phones and gaming devices. ULPP provides superior reliability with its ability to distinguish a human user from other environmental conditions. It can be used in many cases as an alternative to using buttons or keys - for example to wake up or switch on a product as a user's hand approaches, or to automatically answer or reject a call on a handset.
We use a unique patented methodology for reliable operation under varying environmental conditions - humidity, earth ground, location, temperature changes and so on. This means that ULPP can reliably distinguish between the approach of the user and changing environmental conditions. By doing so, ULPP can reduce power consumption up to 90%.
